Hardware

Light&Time is a half-product of smart and connected technology. It is a small-sized electronic board, made for the intelligent control of industry-standard low-cost full-color LED-strips.

The board is designed to easily integrate anywhere with commonly available technology. As an example: the minimum setup requires nothing but the board itself, a LED strip with 60 LEDs, and a readily available USB power supply.

Evaluation Kits for testing can be ordered soon.

The App

Our app for iOS and Android transforms what else would be a simple clock into a distinct light solution for home and office.

And it leaves the choice of connection to the user:

• via BLE (also used for onboarding)
• via Home Wi-Fi network (recommended)
• via external Server
• or as well the old-fashioned way: unconnected.

When connected, Light&Time synchronizes with the web, and keeps the time precise - at all times.

Customization of the App

Our app can be fully customized to the wishes of our B2B clients. This regards not only its graphical design and language, or built-in advertising, but includes as well any specific features desired.

The app we supply you with for testing, has all currently developed functions, plus some testing functions not needed by a normal user. Therefore, you might want to offer to your clients only a subset of these features.

But in case you have ideas for your own special functions, please let us know, we are happy to help.

 

The Clock

Initially Light&Time was designed as a precision on-line clock, synchronizing itself automatically with the GMT atomic clock that provides the Internet with its micro-second precision.

Then, on second thought, we had an idea: the clock display got a complete makeover. Using 60 individually programmable LEDs as colorful pointers, we went from a boring digital display, into a colorful and bright, round 12 hour clock.

This idea not only looks much better, but as well allows to be transformed and scaled with ease: No matter if you envision a clock the size of a plate, the size of a big round mirror, or the size of an entire wall - or even a building - the driving electronic stays the same. Only the LEDs are changed.

The Watch

Being a clock, Light&Time offers as well a fully programmable watch function. This watch is able to wake its user in the most natural way: through a slow real-time simulated sunrise!

While most users are (more than) accustomed to their daily awakening being abrupt and quite noisy, there is a different possibility, an especially appealing one: light!

The sunrise always was the most natural way to wake up and start the day. And now - you decide when the sun comes up!

Motion Control

Light&Time comes with a Motion Sensor and an Environmental Light Sensor. It can switch on the light (&time) only when truely needed.

 

The Light Solution

With 60 (or more) fully programmable LEDs, Light&Time can produce any color desired, homogeneously or mixed. Any Kelvin value can be achieved. The app offers color editing, as RGB or HSV values, and adds a number of features to help the user to achieve any desired solution quickly.

Power

The minimum amount of light power is 10 Watt, but can be scaled virtually without limit. As long as a sufficiently sized power supply is used and prescribed safety practice is observed, even several hundred Watts of LED-light are most certainly achievable.

 

Moodlights

A highlight of Light&Time is its ability to create sophisticated and soothing light experiences, all by itself. What we call Moodlights, are carefully generated simulations of real-world light scenarios.

Imagine the sun-light coming through a ceiling of fresh green leaves, gently moved by the wind. Or the calming glow of of a stack of logs slowly simmering on a fireplace. Or fireflies in the dark...

Our app provides an editor, where any possible light-simulation can be setup, tested and then reproduced.

These simulations are not playbacks, looping the same simple patterns over an over again. Instead they are intelligently random-generated on the spot, never repeated and never the same! That is how they can achieve the same soothing, yet stimulating effect, that natural light, in a natural environment, has given to us since unthinkable times.

As soon as we are ready, we will offer you our Evaluation Kit - all included - for testing.

More, we offer a selection of suitable WSXXX LED strips of different sizes, which we have tested. Of course you can order LED strips where ever you want, but be warned: the quality might not be the same!

Customizing

We are happy to discuss any custom ideas you might have. Besides using the available LED strips, we can use the WSxxx LEDS individually on hard- or soft-PCB materials of any form and shape.
